Professor, Doctor of Science and People's Teacher, formerly of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Vietnam's leading scientist in non-ferrous metallurgy: a tin-refining patent born of fieldwork at the Tĩnh Túc mine (Cao Bằng) in the late 1960s, then — in retirement, while rinsing lab glassware with an aluminium spoon — a new bismuth-refining method, patented in 2019. A poet, he was admitted to the Vietnam Writers' Association at 69 — at the Văn Miếu itself, where the doctoral stelae bear the names of his ancestors Đinh Nho Công and Đinh Nho Hoàn.
