Born at Sơn Hòa (Hương Sơn), he graduated in physics from the Vinh University of Education (1972), where he was kept on to teach. According to the article devoted to his memory, a departure planned for 1980 to prepare a doctorate in Germany fell through following a local assessment; he then taught at the Lê Hữu Trác high school.

In October 1991, at over fifty, he joined the Hà Tĩnh school for gifted pupils (now the chuyên Hà Tĩnh high school), where he organised the mathematics and physics classes. He died of cancer on 13 June 2004. The school's annals devote a tribute to him, “Thầy Đinh Nho Kiểu — Người trong cõi nhớ”.
