Founding ancestor of the clan. An officer bearing the title Tả Hiệu Điểm Công Tây Hầu, he came from Gia Viễn (Ninh Bình) and settled in the hamlet of Bình Hòa, at An Ấp (Hương Sơn), around 1543–1546, or around 1530 according to another hypothesis ⚠︎ (D-H01). The HYPT explains his title by “dẹp giặc có công” (merit in suppressing unrest); part A of GP2020, by his support for the Lê against the Mạc ⚠︎ (D-H06).

He died aged 93, by the Vietnamese reckoning of age. His day of commemoration, the 9th day of the 1st lunar month, is the clan's main annual gathering. His tomb plaque reads: “Sơ tổ Đinh Phúc Diên, Tả Hiệu Điểm, Công Tây Hầu, kỵ nhật 9-1”. The table of clan heads in ĐTA 2023 mistakenly writes “Đinh Phúc Tiên”, the name of his brother [sic].
